The guard therefore hesitated to open the door.

Hamza said to the guard, "Open the door; if he comes in peace he will be welcome. If he is bent on mischief, we are enough to overpower him".

Umar was admitted. Hamza caught him by the hem of his cloak and said, "Umar, what brings you here?" The Muslims with drawn swords surrounded Umar, so that he could be overpowered if he showed any signs of violence.

Hearing the noise, the Holy Prophet came out of his cell. Addressing Hamza the Holy Prophet said, "Leave him Let him come forward".

As Umar stepped forward the Holy Prophet said Umar, how long will you stray from the path of Islam. Has the time not come for you to see the truth?"

Umar said, "Verily the time has come for me to see the truth. I have come to profess my faith in Islam".

The Holy Prophet stretched his hand. Umar held the hand with reverence and said, "I declare that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God".

In joy the Muslims shouted "Allah-o-Akbar". The Holy Prophet embraced Umar. The other Muslims embraced Umar one by one. Umar was the fortieth person to become a Muslim.

That day even Gabriel congratulated the Holy Prophet on the conversion of Umar. Gabriel said: "O Prophet of God, the dwellers in Heaven rejoice at the conversion of Umar and offer you their congratulations". Intoxicated with the joy of having become a Muslim, Umar proceeded to various parts of Mecca to announce that he had become a Muslim. He first went to the house of his maternal uncle Abu Jahl. He knocked at the door of the house of Abu Jahl.

"Who comes", asked Abu Jahl.

"It's Umar", said Umar. Abu Jahl opened the door and said,

"Welcome nephew". Umar said,

"Uncle do you know, I have become a Muslim." Abu Jahl said,

"Do not talk like that. I know that a man of your views can never become a Muslim". Umar said,

"No, uncle it is a fact that I have become a Muslim." Abu Jahl thereupon said,

"If what you say is true then be damned". Saying this Abu Jahl shut the door in the face of Umar.

Thereafter Umar went to see some other Quraish chiefs. He told them of his conversion to Islam. Like Abu Jahl they damned him and shut the doors of their houses against him.

Then Umar proceeded to the Ka'bah. There he saw Jamil bin Ma'mar al-Jamahi who enjoyed reputation for spreading reports in Mecca. Umar told him that he had accepted Islam. Jamil rose from his feet, and cried at the top of his voice:

"O ye Quraish, know that Umar bin al Khattab has been converted to Islam, and apostatised from the faith of his forefathers. "

On hearing this some Quraish youth gathered at the Ka'bah. Umar said,

"What Jamil said is not correct. I have not apostatised: I have seen the truth and accepted Islam". Thereupon the Quraish youth rushed at Umar with a view to beating him. A Shaikh dressed in Yemeni robes Al-Aas bin Wail passed that way, and enquired what was the matter. The Quraish said that Umar had apostatised, and they wanted to punish him for straying from the faith of his forefathers. The Shaikh said,

"A man should be free to choose whatever religion he iikes. Why beat him for that?" Abu Jahl also happened to come that way. Seeing the Quraish, he said,

"I offer protection to my nephew". Umar said,

"Uncle, I do not need your protection. For me the protection of God and the Holy Prophet is enough".

Then Umar went to the Holy Prophet and told him that he had publicly announced his conversion. Heretofore those who were converted to Islam kept their conversion to Islam secret for fear of the oppression of the Quraish. They also prayed in secret. Umar submitted to the Holy Prophet:

"O Messenger of God are we not in the truth?". The Holy Prophet said,

"Why not, we are verily in the truth".

"Then why should we not pray in the public? Has not the time come for us to declare our faith publicly?" said Umar. Umar tried to prevail on the Holy Prophet that the truth of Islam should become manifest. The Holy Prophet agreed with Umar.

The following day all the Muslims emerged from the house of Arqam and proceeded to the Holy Ka'bah, in two lines, one led by Umar, and the other by Hamza. At the Ka'bah the Muslims prayed openly. The Quraish watched the Muslims pray and said, "Verily by the conversion of Umar to Islam, the Muslims have taken the revenge from the Quraish".

After the Muslims had prayed in the Ka'bah, the Holy Prophet conferred on Umar the title of "Al-Faruq," for on that day through the efforts of Umar, the truth of Islam had become manifest.

Hadhrat Umars conversion to Islam

Ta Ha

One hot sultry day in the year A.D. 616, Umar buckled his sword and set out to kill the Holy Prophet (peace be on him). In the way, Umar met Nuaim bin Abduilah. He was a friend of Umar. He had been converted to Islam, but Umar did not know of that.

Noticing the dark frowns on his face, Nuaim asked Umar what he was up to. Umar said that he was going to slay Muhammad (peace be on him), and thus vindicate the gods of Ka'bah. Nuaim said! "Beware if you harm Muhammad (peace be on him) you will not be safe from the fury of Banu Hashim. Desist from such a course in your own interest". Umar ejaculated angrily: "It appears you have also become a Muslim." Nuaim said, "Umar, do not bother about me, but take care of your sister and brother-in-law who have been converted to Islam, and who may be reading the Quran at this very moment."

That made Umar pause. Instead of going to the Holy Prophet, he went to the house of his sister. His sister was Fatima and her husband was Saeed bin Zaid. Umar loved his sister. He had never thought that his brother-in-law or his sister would have the audacity to accept Islam. This was news to him. He could not believe it, but he thought it advisable to verify the facts.

As Umar stepped into the house of his sister, he found that both Fatima and her husband were reading the Quran from a leaf. Seeing Umar, his sister hid the leaf. Fatima rose to welcome her brother with a smile. But there was a dark frown on the face of Umar. "What were you reading", he thundered. "Nothing", replied Fatima.

Umar caught his brother-in-law by the throat and said, "So you have apostasised from the faith of your forefathers". Saeed retorted, "Rather we have abandoned falsehood for truth." Thereupon Umar was about to strike Saeed when Fatima intervened saying, "Hands off from my husband. If ypu have anything to say, say it to me, but do not touch my husband." Umar asked, "Is it a fact that you have become Muslims." She replied, "Yes. we have become Muslims. You may kill us if you like, but we will not waver in our faith".

Umar stayed his hands and desired that the leaf from which they had been reading should be shown to him. Fatima said that he could not touch the sacred leaf until he had washed his hands. Umar washed his hands, and the sacred leaf was handed over to him. It was the Sura Ta Ha. It read:

"Ta Ha
We have not sent the Qur'an to thee,
To be an occasion for thy distress,
But only as an admonition to those who fear God.
A revelation from Him,
Who created the earth and the heavens on high.
God most gracious,
Is firmly established on the throne of authority.
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on earth,
And all between them and all beneath the soil.
If thou pronounce the word aloud, it's no matter
For verily He knoweth what is secret
And what is yet hidden.
Verily there is no god but He
To Him belongs the most beautiful names." (20: 1-8)

As Umar read the verses over and over again, he felt as if these verses were addressed to him in person, and the mysterious Ta Ha referred to Umar-the Man. Umar shuddered with the fear of God, and he felt as if his conscience was upbraiding him, "Umar, how long would you stay away from the path of truth. Has not the time come for you to follow the truth?"

And then Umar resolved that he would lose no time in following the truth. Turning to his sister and brother-in-law he said, "I came to you as an enemy of Islam; I go from you as a friend of Islam. The reigns of both the worldly and spiritual leadership came in to his hands. His appointment as Khaliph is indeed an ."interesting episode:

When Hazrat ABubakr ra took a turn for the worst and his demise seemed imminent, he summoned Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Uthman,, some muhajireen and some ansaar. He addressed them thus:

"You are observing my deteriorating condition. It has therefore, become necessary to appoint someone to take care of your affairs after me. If you wish, you may by mutual consultation nominate a man or if you wish, I shall select a man."

They requested him to appoint a successor.

Hazrat Abubakr then instructed Hazrat Uthman to prepare a document in which Hazrat Umar was appointed the Khlifah. Hazrat Umar said: I can not bear this responisibility." Hazrat Abubakr replied : "Bring my sword. He has disobeyed the order of Rasulullahs Khalifah." He then severely reprimanded Hazrat Umar who was compelled to accet the Khalifate againt his wishes. Soon thereafter, Hazrat Talha RA entered and objected to this appointment. HAzrat ABu Bakr said:

"By Allah! Umar is the best man for you and you are the worst for him."

He then proceeded to severely rebuke Hazrat Talha and expelled him. He then ordered Hazrat Uthman to write as folows:

"
"This directive is being written by Abu Bakr, The Khalifah of Rasulullah Salallalahu alayhi wasalam at the juncture of his departure from the earth and the commencement of his sojourn to the akhirah. I appoint afte rme for you Umar bin Khattab as the Khalifah. If he remains the pious and just, then this is exactly what I am convinced f him (in regard to him.) If he changes, then I have to say that I lack the knowledge of the unknown. In my opinion I have done the best for you by his appointment. The burden of a sin is on the one commiting it." (He then cited the following ayah.)

"And soon witll the trangressors know the direction towards which they are turning.

Commenting on the saying of Masters of Tasawwuf that looking back at the past sins (intentionally) is a veil from remembrance of Allah SWT, Hazrat Hakeemul Ummat Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi ra said:

“This saying is in regards to those individuals who have eliminated their gaflah (forgetfulness) and are engrossed in Allah SWT(‘s path).

Abubakr siddique Radhiallaho Anho quotes:

"T
he greatest understanding is Taqwa and the greatest ignorance is transgression and immorality. "Anecdotes"

Hadhrat Umars constand and abundant crying formed 2 dark stripes down his cheeks. He would cry so much in salaat for the fear of Allah, that his sobbing could be heard by three rows of musalis (followers of the imam in salat). At tmes while engaged in tilawat of the Holy Quran he would cry so profusely that his breathing would become difficult. Sometimes he would fall down. Sometimes he would lament:

"I wish I was a goat which could be slaughtered and eaten."

Sometimes he would hold in his a blade of grass and sigh "I wish I was this grass."

Sometimes he said," I wish my mother had not given birth to me."
He would say to people:
"better then your life in the Akhirat (hereafter) be suffering is tha your worldly life suffers."

In the beinning there was a considerable harshness in him. Precisely for this reason people did people void coming ot of their homes in the initial period of his khalifat. Observing this he delivered a lengthy khutbah inwhich he said:

"People! I was hard until there was among you there was kind and beneficient men such as Rasulullah Salallahu alayhi wasalam and Abubakr Radhiallahu anho. The combination of my hardness and thier softness has brought about moderation. But, now I shall not be harsh on you. My hardness will be for only the oppressors, O people! If I oppose the sunnat of the Prophet of Allah and the way of ABu Bakr what will you do?"

After he posed this question several times, a man stood up brandishing a sword and indicated with it that he would sever his (umar's) neck. The audacity did not anger him in the least. On the contrary , this answer pleased him .

When he journeyed to the land of shaam he was clad in worn out garments which had a number of patches. It was said to him that high ranking priests of the Yahood (jews) and Nasara (christians) would be visiting him. What will they think of the muslims leader clad so shabberly? Hadhrat Umar Responded:

" We are a people whom Allah elevated by means of Islam. "
In other words honour and respect are not by means of garments.

Inspite of him having been gven the glad tidings of Jannah, the degree of his fear was overwhelming. And, despite his piety and so much fear for Allah he would ask Hadhrat Hudhaifah Radhaiallahu anho whether Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasalam had not perhaps mentioned his name too in the list of munafiqeen (hyporcrites) whose name Rasulluallah saw had revealed to Hadhrat Huzaifah ra.

Abu Bakr on Mans Lowly Origin.

Hadhrat Anas Radhiallahu narrates that sometimes when Hadhrat Abu Bakr RA would speak of mans creation during his khutbah, he would say man emerged twice from the place of najasat (impurity): Once from the fathers private organ (in the form of a sperm drop) and once from hs mothers private organ (at birth). Sometimes the good tendencies win and sometimes the bad tendencies over power us.

I keep thinking today about the selfless attitude of the Prophet Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam, that he used to sacrifice his own comforts to try and pplease other people. There is a case of when a bedouin came to him and started asking him for his possessions and he gave them all away including his robe etc and if when asked for more if had possessed them he would have given them away too. I quote

"The Prophet (PBUH) experienced many situations of Ithar throughout his life. He would give his own robe for people to cover with during the cold nights of Madinah. The Prophet (PBUH) said: one amongst you believes (truly) till one likes for his brother or for his neighbor that which he loves for himself." It is not the case of money, but it is all about the Ithar of souls."

http://www.gawaher.com/index.php?s=cdc25a2ade05f28c699e73d09cde213d&showtopic=7860&pid=199020&st=0&#entry199020

We also know the stories of His companions who even at their death beds would sacrifice their needs for the other.

If everyone in this world had a selfless attitude then life would be such a bliss, but unfortunately we have to deal with the greed of others etc. We can not ever keep everyone happy in this world. We will die trying and never achieve it.

Anyways back to emotions so yes we have good and bad in us, there are qualities within us God loves such as selflessness, genereosity, compassion, caring, comfort, charity, smiling, being helpful, humble, etc, there are propensities Allah dislikes such as hatred, malice, conceit, jealosusy, pride, anger etc. However both sets of emotions are beyond our control. Eg jealosy may rear its ugly head make us want to do those things that in the end will cause our own destruction. Or we may become angry at someone and by acting it haste we may do or say something which then affects our relationship adversely with them. The point I want to make is these feelings, good and bad, we need to realise which of these are liked by Allah and then act upon them, for exapmle we may see an old lady carrying heavy bags we have a thought I should help her so its up to us then to go and offer our help. Or in the case of a negative trait we may feel like swearing at someone but then again its up to us to not let that negative quality win over us and we need to learn to keep that under control.

Yes the emotions are sometimes beyond our control,, but Yes it is under our control to act on these natural tendencies. That Person will become Beautiful who lets the positive side to him dominate the negative.

May God help us in this (ameen)

Ma salams

Human Emotions

Assalamoaleikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

I just wanted to write someting about Human emotions bases upon the feelings of what I feel today. These emotions I feel are due to the emotions of others. It sometimes seems that the life of the world is a continuous struggle with how people feel about you and the situation that they find themselves in especially as their emotions affect you.

Right now I have 2 wives Alhumdulillah, Both Beautiful Both very different. However both the wives feel jealousy and maybe even sometimes "hatred" but hatred is a strong word, however each might feel the other was not there.

I can take the case of my first wife who at first was extremely emotional about the decision I took in my life. But at the same time..with the affect of time and some due attention and comfort she has become accustomed to thse feelings and tries to take the situation positively. She tries to concentrate on my relationshiop with her making sure she does not spoil it.

On the other hand there is the case of my second wife, who now feels encroached by the first on her territory as I introduced the first one to an aspect of my life which she was away from. Now naturally there is a case of conflicting emotions. Mashallah. But these are natural. And its up to me somehow to keep both the wives under control, happy and comforted. A job which is sometimes very very very hard. But I remember something my sheikh told me a long time ago thats its never possible to keep everyone completely happy, a person will get stressed trying to. This is a mistake I have been making and now I have finally realsied my efforts will be in vain. So basicaly stick to your decisions, trust Allah and supplicate to him for the best outcomes Inshallah.

I've decided to let them try and keep me happy for a change instead of me always chasing them about lol.

Allah loves and I smile

Ma salams

Gods Help

So you want Gd to help you? Well theres an very simple way help others, be it physically, materially. spiritually, psychologically, or any other way.

You see what we tend to forget in life is that God pulls all the strings at God controls everyone thing everyone and every heart. IT is God who sends the rain, IT is God who giver permission for the sun to rise, IT is God that keeps the ocean from destroying us. If it wasn't for God we wouldn't even exist.

So if you want to feel love, Love, If you want to feel cared for, care, if you want to be helped, help.

Whatever you want wish it for someone and do it for someone else. God makes it fall back on us. Inshallah.

Its all to do with faith in the unseen. Its said there is an angel with every drop of rain that makes it fall exactly in the spot where God wants is to fall. There are angels around us all the time protecting us, keeping harm away from us. There is an angel in our throat making sure the food goes down the right way, with Allahs leave..

if we keep our gaze on the creation we wont get very far but if we keep our gaze on Allah, Inshallah we will get through life blisfully.

And thank god for everything. It makes the rocky path smooth, without trust we can't achieve anything. We shall stumble at every step, every hurdle. Once we have gained another persons trust we should do our best not ever to lose it.
The ultimate is to have Trust in God. Knowing that he created us sent us down to this world, knowing he knows our needs and has been fulfilling them ever since we were born. Knowing that he is aware of us and our problems and situations. By having trust in God life becomes easy. Indeed God loves those who put thier trust in him. Trusting God enough to realise he will make a path out for us in every difficulty.
Having said this blind trust is lack of wisdom and intellect. If a person was to give his belongings to a thief to look after them, then surely he will suffer and worry. Or as Prophet Muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam saud "Tie your camel then trust in God"
God gave us intellect enough to judge for oursellves the problems and diificulties we will face for taking a paticular course in life. If then we face problems then this is due to our lack of judgment and not weighing up the pros and cons of our choices.
Anyways back to the original point That Trust is a Beautiful thing. Savour it, cherish it, Nourish it, develop it, build on it. Complete trust in God will bring the unseen Devine help.
Allah knows Best.

I know nothing!!

Glory be to you, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. No knowledge have we save that which Thou hast imparted unto us. Verily, Thou alone art all-knowing, truly wise." 2:31-32

In life when we learn this simple rule that there is a greater knower than me. Someone whose knowledge encompasses everything, past present and future. Someone who knows what is best for us, someone who knows how best to get the maximum benefit from this life. Someone who knows our every desire and need. Someone who knows what our needs will be in the future, someone who knows what our needs will be in the past. It is only when we realise that our knowledge is deficient and when we start comparing it to the knowledge God has bestowed upon us that we truly will become happy in this life, it is only then we will realise our worth and what God has stored up for us in the life hereafter.

If we live our life full of pride and conceit, thinking i know better than anyone, I know better than the one who created me..then we wil never truly be happy and always will be misguided.

God gave us intellect, intellect enough to realise we are on a temporary journey..that we are but travellers passing through this life. No one till today has staye don the earth forever, everyone and everything is to persih. It is only when we we set our sights on the destination..the life hereafter that the cares and worries of this world will leave us and sweetness and peace will enter us.

May God make us of his elect and help us gain knowledge and bestow upon us the true knowledge which will help us in both worlds this and the next.

Keep well

Majnun.

I write this having read someones blog on what thier impression of heaven is..heaven is a place where all our impressions will become a reality. The Path to him. The Path of piety.

However if we look at everything in his world there are always two opposites. E.g. Male and Female. Day and Night. Sun and the Moon., Stars and plants. Animals and vegetations. Humans and Jinn. And even these then further devide in to further opposites. Life and Death, Male, females, Sight and Sound, Taste and smell, Pain and pleasure..list is endless.

Thus we can realise in order for everything to function properly we need both extremes. If it wasn't for the sexes life would have become extinct as soon as it began.

Thus in order for Good to prevail in this world and in order for a person to observe piety its opposite is necessary. If it wasn't for that eveil a person could not ever become Good.

Now for its each individual to decide which wave he wants to ride, the evil one or the righteous one.

This well decide whether he or she Enters heaven or hell.

God in his mercy didnt leave us to ourselves he sent many messenger and sent many revelations all helping us to over come the evil within us and in society.

If it wasn't for the struggle against evil we would never appreciate or savour the good.

Just my thoughts..my first blog here, wrote tis after reading another blog.

regards

Maj
